The requirements set out in Article 11 of the Battery Regulation regarding the removability and replaceability of portable batteries and LMT batteries will apply from 18 February 2027. We provide information on the latest developments.

The “Regulation on Circularity Requirements for Vehicle Design and on the Management of End-of-Life Vehicles” (ELVR or End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation) aims to promote circular business models in the vehicle manufacturing sector across the EU. Following its formal adoption by the European Parliament, it now only requires the Council’s approval.

The Battery Regulation was adopted in July 2023 and entered into force in August 2023. Nevertheless, there is still a lot of regulatory activity surrounding the Battery Regulation. An implementing act pursuant to Art. 76 (5) of the Battery Regulation, which concerns reporting to the EU Commission, is currently in preparation.
