Waste disposal & management
Today, waste management does much more than just dispose of waste to protect the environment and human health.
In addition to removing pollutants from the economic cycle and ensuring hygienic conditions, waste management is increasingly serving to recover used materials and secondary basic and raw materials (e.g. plastics, metals, mineral building materials) for a new use and production cycle, as well as for energy generation (e.g. electricity, district heating, hydrogen). Waste management thus makes a significant contribution to resource conservation and climate protection. In connection with climate protection targets, waste management must make a significant contribution in the future to ensuring that the German and European economies evolve from a linear to a circular economy.
With decades of experience, we advise operators of waste disposal facilities such as waste storage facilities, sorting plants, pre-treatment and processing plants, composting plants, conditioning plants, (special) waste incineration and co-incineration plants, sewage sludge incineration and co-incineration plants, chemical-physical treatment plants, backfill mines, above-ground landfills of all classes and underground landfills on all issues relating to waste law, plant law and waste disposal contracts. We advise owners, producers, dealers, brokers and disposers of waste on general waste law, including notification and permit requirements, registration and documentation obligations, as well as on sectoral waste law, for example for packaging, electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, commercial waste, substitute building materials, biowaste, sewage sludge and waste wood. We have extensive experience in the complex issues surrounding the classification of waste as non-hazardous or hazardous and in all matters relating to by-products, end-of-waste materials and recyclates.
