Environment
Environment & procurement
The environmental economy, environmental protection and public procurement law are closely interlinked in many ways:
In the environmental sector, companies operating primarily at the municipal level are bound by public procurement law as public contracting authorities and therefore put out to tender many of the services they require that are related to the environment.
This applies in particular to municipal waste, water and wastewater management. Bodies and institutions established under state law are also active in these areas. Furthermore, due to its high demand, public procurement has a significant influence on the environmental friendliness of commissioned construction and services as well as goods. Public procurement law provides many instruments for making procurement environmentally friendly. Binding requirements for environmentally friendly procurement are important, not least to prevent environmentally friendly products from being exposed to unfair competition with products without such advantages in public procurement.
We advise public contracting authorities on the environmentally friendly design of procurement procedures. We advocate for companies and associations to comply with the legal requirements for environmentally friendly procurement and are committed to the further development of public procurement law in the interests of environmental protection. We advise and represent bidders and public contracting authorities in procurement procedures, in complaints and in review proceedings.
